11:54p RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE
WHAT THE FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!
I am filled with so much rage towards these people right now. I rarely get to a point where I feel like I could actually hurt somebody, these people make me come close to crossing that line.
Elie Wiesel is amazing, his books are amazing, he is amazing.

12:32a Dear Coworker (cut for length)
Now, I like you. Really, I do. No, not like that - you're more than old enough to be my Dad. But you're funny, you're friendly, and when you're not busy proving that it IS in fact possible to PMS with only one X chromosome, you're actually a really nice guy. But good grief, you can be an ass sometimes.
Now, it is no big secret in the lab that you have pre-diabetes and high blood pressure, and you're deaf in one ear, and your hearing really kinda sucks in the other. We all know this. I even know why you have bad hearing, and it's not age or the fact that you're a Vietnam vet - you mentioned that you got caught in a lab explosion some years back. Ouch, man - you have my sympathy, you really do. However, the fact that you have bad hearing, are a vet (incidentally, thank you for that. No, really, no sarcasm - thank you), and OMG get diability from the VA... does not give you a monopoly on TEH DISABLED in the lab. Not everyone at work realizes that I have Asperger's Syndrome, but courtesy of a random discussion one night on why I sweep the lab when everyone else prefers the shop vac, you are one of the ones who does. I have sensory integration disorder, and vacuum cleaners set it off. I'd sooner use the broom, thanks.

Still love, but frustrated nonetheless, Allison

I made cookies!!! Im going to bring them into class tomorrow. One set is a peanut butter cookie, and the other is a vegan chocolate-chip oatmeal for those who're vegan and who dont like peanut butter. No one has a crazy-sensitive peanut allergy--I checked. In fact, no one has a pea nut allergy at all. YAY!
In other news, I signed up for my classes! I decided to go for all four until further notice. Im going to talk to an advisor on monday perhaps, or maybe one of my professors too and see what they think.
I also applied to the tea shop. I didnt put too much effort into it, so I dont know how well it will go over. I show absolutely NO experience working in a tea shop before, so we'll see. I also have to mention to them that I will be leaving Dec 20th for Germany and the like. I dont know if it'll be a good match, but it seems like a lot of fun. I dont know if Ill drop a class if I get the job--it seemed like it would be 10 hours or so per week. A little pocket money would be really fun. I'd probably spend it all on discounted tea stuff!
I made a whole bunch of earrings in the last couple days for my little sister for her birthday and then for christmas when Im not there. I'll be shopping for everyone's holiday presents so I can give them to the right people to hand out when the time comes. I've got my mom, step mom, father, little brothers, and little sister figured out. I still havent quite figured out what to get my step father (which is fairly normal), nor what to get my older brother and his Sweetie. I've got my Sweetling figured out, and his family... we'll see about everything else I guess. I need to shop for all that!

I was browsing in generic clothing store, and there was a rack of t-shirts with the American Eagle brand written on them. One in particular had the words colored to resemble the American flag, so it had the word "American" with "ame" in blue and stars and the "rican" in red and white stripes, and the word "eagle" below it in red and white stripes.
There was a young couple next to me, probably about college-aged, looking at the shirt. The guy said, "Ame Rican?" (pronounced AH-may REE-can). "Is that like Costa Rican? I never heard of Ame Rican Eagle. Kinda looks like American Eagle.......oh". His girlfriend just looked at him and walked away.

This was relayed to me by a friend of mine - I just had to share the stupid.
She works at an elementary school with pre-school age autistic kids. Some of them have a couple of "regular" classes during the day that she takes them to.
One goes to English class, where they happened to have a sub that day who was teaching plurals, and possessives. He writes D-O-G on the board and then asks the class "Okay class... if I wanted to make this word plural, what would I add to the end of it? An S or ES?" The class kind of mutters general responses. "Very good, class - the answer is S!" Says the teacher. "If we put ES on the end, that would make it possessive!"
I died a little that day.

11:01a Cat's have what?
Last night, a story from a few years ago came up among friends that I thought was appropriate for this comm.
My dad is in a band. Their drummer at the time was not the brightest. She was petting one of our cats and asked my dad, "What are these little bumps on her belly?" Concerned that the cat might have something on her that she shouldn't, my dad went to go see what she was talking about. He told her they were just the cat's nipples.
Her reaction? "NUH UH!! GET OUTTA HERE! Cat's don't have nipples!! ...do they?"

12:33a bratabase
Forwarding this from an email.
Bratabase.com Compares bras based on measurements and tells you which other are similar. Here's an example > http://www.bratabase.com/browse/calvin-klein/perfectly-fit-seduction-d3088/36C/ > In this case the 36C is actually pretty similar to a 34C in a different model > > It also tells you whether a bra would fit you or why it wouldn't based on owner's profiles. It will tell you which breast shapes are best suited for a particular bra according to the owners of bras in that size. > http://www.bratabase.com/browse/vanity-fair/body-sleeks-full-coverage-contour-stretch-75-266/34DD/ > > It has a bunch of other smaller features, but those are what I expect would help people the most. > > If you browse around you-ll notice that there aren't many bras on the site yet, since it is heavily crowd sourced and the only bras at the moment are from friends or members i've contacted personally asking for help. > > Feel free to give it a look and let me know what do you think of it or if you have any questions :) > > bye! > > Jj

11:43p New, and Question regarding biting
My boyfriend and I are recent rat adoptees, we got our first ratties in May and have enjoyed them immensely since then! I can't believe I didn't figure out what great pets they were earlier, I feel like I've wasted so much time being ratless.
Our little crew consists of Silvia and Dahlia, who are sisters I got at the pet store when they were young. The other rat is Clio, who is a rescue with a pretty sad history of being a lab rat at a college and then tossed outdoors when the class was done (just awful... a bunch of them were 'released' and Clio was the only survivor, the others I assume were eaten by owls and hawks). As you can probably guess Silvie and Dahlie are little sweethearts and Clio is a bit... traumatized?
When I put my fingers in the cage the sisters will run to greet and lick my hands. Clio usually hangs back some, then when she gets close to investigate she will suddenly CHOMP on your finger, sometimes drawing blood. I heard this can be caused by people feeding them through the bars so they think anything that comes in is food.... this may be the case as when you put your whole hand in she doesn't seem interested in biting (unless you go too close to the nestbox, which is definitely a territorial thing and I respect that).
Is there a way to un-train them to immediately bite anything poked through the bars? I love it when Silvie and Dahlie lick my fingers and I hate having to always watch out for Clio and 'run' from her. I also feel like Clio is getting a 'bad rat' rap which isn't really her fault.
Silvia and Dahlia's attitudes really do help Clio feel more confident and outgoing since we matched them up. I wish they could teach her some cage manners too, but I guess it's up to us. Ideas, experiences?

9:26p quirky new habit
so, my dog has developed a quirky new habit. Now, when he steals something, he runs to his crate to play with it/eat it. This sort of defeats the purpose of putting him in his crate for a time out, since he is already there. It makes me laugh, but I'm sort of at a loss as to what to do for a time out, other than close the door on him.
Also, I take my dog to a dog park to burn off some of the terrier energy. He runs like a lunatic, but is well behaved about it- doesn't trip anyone, doesn't bark, doesn't chase other dogs, etc. He runs for a long time, very fast. But winter is coming with the crazy NE snow and I want to try and replicate this exhaustion without us both freezing outside for two hours. Any idea how to get him to waste a similar amount of energy inside for the days when the weather is just unbearable?

4:29p I finally have a Glockgal commission!
A few weeks ago I commissioned a piece of South Park art from glockart since I've loved her other fandom related pieces for years. Yesterday she emailed me, telling me it was done! I'll be getting it in the mail soon but for now I have a digital copy and I thought I'd share with you!
( winter fun )

12:20p Uh...crap??
A few weeks ago I finally introduced my new rat Sally to my rat Isabelle, after I had Sally kept aside for a bit to check for illnesses and such. Today when I went to clean their cage I lifted Sally up to find something I didn't notice before...testicles. A fairly small set of testicles, considering that those torpedoes are pretty hard to miss, and now I'm afraid Isabelle is pregnant. I'm really unsure of what to do. I'd love to keep the litter, but I think two or three adult rats is as much as I can afford to care for, and also as much as I can keep comfortably in my cage. Suggestions? Signs of pregnancy? Anything?
